 During most of the year sport fishing for species like sierra, trout, lobina and corvina is one of the major recreational attractions. San Felipe has a few large boats available for the one day or multi-day trips to the local fishing grounds. Also popular are the local fishermen and their "pangas" for a 1/2 day or 3/4 day of fishing.

San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico, gateway to the north Sea of Cortez. This once sleepy fishing village has emerged as one of the premier off road destinations in the world; Host to the world famous SCORE TECATE SAN FELIPE 250 and major crossroads for numerous events including the Baja 1000. SCORE and regional promoters CODE and RECORD host events throughout the year in and around San Felipe. Rentals of dirt bikes ATV's and sand buggies are available in town.

The bay of San Felipe provides for endless water sports. It's calm waters are perfect for water and jet skiing as well as kayaking. You'll also see young men trailing "banana boats" from their "pangas" looking for beachgoers who are eager to jump on the yellow rubber boats and be pulled through the wake.

Dining in San Felipe is a mouth-watering experience, mostly famous for its seafood, especialy the giant blue shrimp and their "fish tacos". Invented here in San Felipe and now world famous thanks to California's restaurant chain "Rubio's" who discovered them, yes you guessed it, here in San Felipe.  You'll find fish tacos, shrimp and octopuss Baja style coctails, as well as other delicious dishes all along the "Malecon".

Other options like kayaking, diving or swimming in the crystal clear waters are also very good ideas to enjoy this quiet place free of large tourist developments.San Felipe and its landscape is surrounded with sand dunes and rough terrain, which makes this tourist destination an excellent environment for four wheel vehicles, rock climbing and off road cycling. Open spaces for "trailer parks", shops specializing in fishing, bars, restaurants, hotels, Mexican arts and craft shops, gas stations and internet access complete the attractions and services of San Felipe.In the vicinity of San Felipe there are fascinating horizons and untouched hidden treasures ready for relaxation and enjoyment . From Punta El Machorro, in the boreal part of the Bay to Punta Estrella in the southern region, 18 km from golden beaches for barefoot hikers, offering serene sea waves and romantic sunsets to admire the wonderful marine life found here.Driving South, you will find up to 70 km of pristine beaches, where camping is allowed in some of them. Be sure to visit the town of Puertecitos (to 55 km south of San Felipe, travelling road 5). In this place, starred nights, springs, beautiful views of the sea of Cortés, all basic services, and an astonishing repertoire of flora and fauna are your travel companions.The benefits of dry warm weather, refreshed faint breeze of the sea, have attracted a good number of American residents who year to year come to these beaches to pass the winter season. In view of the increasing interest, desert real estate developments are increasingly being built around of the coastal desert area, an excellent site for well deserved leisure life .For this newcomers and those who enjoy golf, a professional golf course the Caras de Mexico has the infrastructure to fully enjoy the sport.
